Dear Editor,

Thanks so much for the great article on Junior Horticulture Day at Bonfante Gardens. I would like to thank all the wonderful community members that made it happen:

• Michael Bonfante for building such a wonderful place for families.

• Barb Granter and the Paramount team for their management and operational expertise to make such a large event go smoothly.

• Leadership Gilroy Class of 2004, Pat DelBene, and Barbara DeLorenzo for adopting the project, raising money, and helping structure the day.

• Gilroy Unified, Superintendent Edwin Diaz, and Jacqui Horejs, for embracing the idea, facilitating the day, and linking school and community in a large project.

• Gayle Carlile, Curt Hentschke, Amy Anderson, (Fourth grade teachers at Rucker School), Richard Soria and Marie Zigel (horticulturist and docent at Bonfante Gardens) for developing the curriculum for the day.(and doing lots of stuff).

• The docents and parent volunteers that chaperoned and worked with the kids.

• Jose Hernandez and Heather Nolan who worked with the Gilroy High Latino Club and horticulture classes. These high school students did an excellent job tutoring the fourth graders.

• Jan Janes and the CMAP crew for making a video we can show proudly to other districts.

• For all the sponsors of the t-shirts with Mariesas logo (Thanks Mrs. Johansen).

• Lonna, my wife, who helped make the right decisions for kids.

• The Bonfante board which want these types of events for the community.

Thanks to everyone.
