GILROY – Handmade Healthcare made a strong statement about challenging for the Women’s B League championship Wednesday with a 25-5 victory over first-half champion Williams Dental Lab at Christmas Hill Park.
Christina Castillo went 4-for-4 and scored four runs as Handmade moved to 3-0 atop the four-team league. Williams Dental slipped to 1-2.
Nina Mongiello and Erica Dickens added four hits apiece to the streaking Healthcare. Handmade pushed across seven runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.
Gail Corzo and Maureen Hughes each went 3-for-3 for Williams Dental Lab.
Don’s Vending struck for five runs in the first inning on the way to an 11-8 decision over Dutchman’s Pizza.
The 2-1 Vendors received four hits from lead-off batter Lydia Cano. Liz Adams provided three hits and three RBI. Sheri Steinbeck’s RBI-triple helped Dutchman’s Pizza to a six-run seventh inning. Stephenie Johnston went 3-for-4 for Dutchman’s, the first-half C champion.
Goldsmith Seeds outlasted the Energizers 14-9 Wednesday to move to 3-0 in Women’s C League play at Christmas Hill.
Monica Melendrez and Antoinette Bowe each homered in a seven-run outburst in the Goldsmith sixth stanza. Bowe paced the winners with a 3-for-4 effort. Goldsmith joined Kay’s Kids, a forfeit winner over Chaos, in first place.
M&M’s knocked Let’s Do This from the unbeaten ranks 17-12 Wednesday at Las Animas Park behind a four-hit, six-RBI performance by Missy Hice.
