Gilroy – Sponsored by Body and Mind Solutions and the Hammerhead Athletic Club, the first Hammerhead Kids Triathlon will be held on Sunday at 8am at Gavilan College.
And, there are still openings for young triathletes in the event, which has already drawn 135 entries, according to organizer Cristin Reichmuth.
Reichmuth said the event will include kids ranging in age from under six to as old as 18 competing in their various age groups. She said she hopes to make the event a regular happening.
“The thing we’re hoping comes out of this is the kids have a great time in a safe environment,” she said.
Entry fee is $40 for triathletes with a USA Triathlon card, $45 without a card. Â
All race finishers will receive a custom finisher metal, swim cap, t-shirt, and goody bag with products from BullFrog, PowerBar, Baker’s Breakfast Cookies, Gilroy Garlic from Christopher Ranch and more.
There will also be awards for the top three finishers, boy and girl. The winners of each age group will receive a free entry to Bonfante Gardens Theme Park and an invitation to join the Hammerhead Triathlon Development and Racing Team.
