James Clark Wallace died Nov. 10, 2003, at the VA Hospital in
Palo Alto after a lengthy illness at the age of 62.
James Clark Wallace died Nov. 10, 2003, at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto after a lengthy illness at the age of 62.
He is survived by his son Christopher and wife Karla, his son Trevor, grandchildren Kristian and Shelby, and the mother of his children, Jan Wallace all of Gilroy. He also leaves two brothers, Richard and Rex Wallace, a sister, Shirley, and many nieces and nephews.
Upon graduation from college, Jim entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served two tours in Vietnam including several months as an artillery forward observer. He also served more than three and a half years in Europe and eventually retired with the rank of major, at which time he settled in Gilroy with his family. His military awards include the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Commendation medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Aircraft Crewman’s Badge.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday at Habing Family Funeral Home. Burial was at the San Joaquin National Cemetery, Gustine. Instead of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Lord’s Table or to a veterans services charity in his name.
