James (Papa) Rubino

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.

Born on January 31, 1913, in San Francisco. Died on Feb. 7, 2011 at the age of 98. He lived a life full of long-lasting friendships nurtured by his constant desire to make others happy.

Survived by his wife of 70 years, Ebe Rubino. Very proud father of Lynne Bottazzo of San Martin and Michael (Cricket) Rubino of Morgan Hill. Caring grandfather of Brandi and Mike Rubino and Marco and Paolo Bottazzo. Great-grandfather of Annalyse and Gia Bottazzo.

Jim especially enjoyed his family, friends, cooking and dancing. He was the No. 1 Band Booster for the Live Oak Emerald Regime under the direction of his son Michael. Jim cooked for two generations of band families, always making sure the kids and parents were well fed before, after and during many trips, band practices and fundraisers.

He was well known in San Francisco for his produce expertise and recipes, enjoyed by his many customers. He was one of the original chefs at the Gilroy Garlic Festival’s Gourmet Alley creating his famous stuffed mushroom that are still one of the Festivals favorites

Jim never met a stranger, and moreover, never met anyone he didn’t like. The feelings were always mutual. He was sincere in his willingness to give, and never expected anything in return. When you give love unconditionally, that love is returned. Thanks to all of you who have been a part of his life and made it one he was very proud of.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life and reception to be held March 4th, 3:00 P.M. at Guglielmo Winery 1480 E. Main Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA
