age of 76 in Hollister.

A native of Corona, Mr. Ruiz came to San Benito at the age of 6.

A graduate of Sacred Heart School, San Benito High School and San Benito Junior College, Mr. Ruiz served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was lifetime member of the Hollister Post 9242 Veterans Of Foreign Wars and a member of Sacred Heart Church.

He entered the dry cleaning business more than 57 years ago beginning in Michigan and continuing in his own business in Hollister for 44 years.

His original location in Hollister was on San Benito Street at 6th Street across from Schippers Clothing until he moved his Fashion Cleaners to the shopping plaza which is now across from K-Mart 33 years ago. In addition to being devoted to his grandchildren, his interests were his family, reading, spending time at his home at Lake Tahoe and hunting in Gilroy and San Benito County in his younger days.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria of Hollister; sons, Philip Ruiz of Hollister and Jesse Ruiz (Lucy) of Gilroy; grandchildren Rachel, David and Sarah Ruiz of Gilroy; siblings Phyllis Valdez of Hollister, Joseph and Mac Ruiz of San Jose, and the late Catalino and John Ruiz, Lupe Oates, and Carmen Melendez. His is survived by many nieces and nephews; a dear family friend Lucy Pineda of Hollister; and sister-in-laws Evelyn Jensen of Gilroy and Irene Mosso of Hollister.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister.

Interment will follow in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery.

Donations are preferred to Alzheimers Research c/o the mortuary chapel.
