Joffre Besson passed away in Morgan Hill on Sept. 2, 2003.
Mr. Besson was born in Gilroy 86 years ago. He attended local schools and graduated from Gilroy High. After a career in the Army, he returned to his hometown, Gilroy. Joffre then went to work for the county of Santa Clara as an assessor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting hiking, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Besson was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation.
He was the husband of the late Elsie Besson. Mr. Besson is survived by his daughter and her husband, Nancy and Michael Oliver of Gilroy, his granddaughter and her husband, Melissa and Steve Howard, of Chandler, Ariz., his great grandchildren, Morgan and Cole Howard of Chandler, AZ, his brother and his wife, George and Mary Besson of Gilroy, four nephews, George Jr., Dennis, Joseph, and Jeff Besson all of Gilroy.
He was the cousin of Alice Paulson of Las Vegas and Joe and Josephine Bernard of Redwood City.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Gilroy.
In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.
