Jose Alarcon died Dec. 24, 2004 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Palo Alto. He was 87.
Born on Dec. 6, 1917, Lt. Jose Alarcon, served in the U.S. Army.
Lt. Alarcon retired from the U.S. Army at Fort Ord after serving in Okinawa, New York, Maryland, Virginia, San Francisco and Germany. He survived the Bataan Death March and received the Bronze Medal for his service in the Pacific during World War II.
He worked as a security guard at Kaiser Permanente in Gilroy before returning to the Philippines to live.
He is survived by his wife, Rizalia; son, Jose Alarcon of Taos, New Mexico; daughters, Marilyn Alarcon-Warzecka of Pioneer and MaryFaith Alarcon-Calden of Columbia; and eight grandchildren.
His remains will be interred in Iloilo Memorial Cemetery in the Philippines.
