Men’s CC
Gilroy –Jus 2 Party earned a spot in the Men’s CC League’s Championship Series by outlasting Temple Inland 21-11 Monday at Gavilan Sports Park.
Mitch Martinez hit for the cycle as the Party finished the second half with a 5-1 mark. Jus 2 Party opens the best 2-of-3 Championship Series against Feather Haven Mill on Thursday Aug. 10 at 6:30pm at Las Animas Park.
Rene Sanchez, Chris Thomas and Kurt Simmons each homered for the winners. Mike Howe went 4-for-4. Martin Serrano stroked a home run, triple, single and sacrifice fly for Temple Inland.
The Gilroy NAPA Slammers dropped out of first place with a 22-11 loss at the hands of Going Somewhere.
The Slammers finished 4-2 when Shannon Fernandez drilled a grand slam and a three-run poke for Going Somewhere. Aaron Griffin provided a home run, two singles and a sacrifice fly for the winners. Mike Montenegro and Ralph Ortiz popped home runs for the Slammers.
Men’s C
The Las Animas Sweepers, the second-half Men’s C League champion at 5-1, dropped the season finale to Pro Electric 24-14 Monday at Las Animas.
The Sweepers open the C Championship Series on Thursday Aug. 10 at 6:30pm at Christmas Hill against California Silk Screening.
Matias Franco muscled a home run, triple and two doubles to highlight the Pro Electric attack. Gino Martinez homered and Mike Sandoval provided four hits to the Electrician offense. Cameron Bautista and Mitch Ponza each homered for the Sweepers.
Feather Haven Mill prepped for post-season softball play by trimming Kline’s Plumbing 19-12. Albert Alosi homered and Brett Scott mustered five hits for the Millers. Gil Barry lined a three-run home run for Kline’s Plumbing.
WoMen’s B
Williams Dental Lab completed a 6-0 march through the second half of the Women’s B League season Tuesday with a 12-7 victory over rival Stubby’s Girls at Las Animas.
Williams will face Stubby’s in the first game of the best 2-of-3 series on Wednesday Aug. 9 at 6:30pm at Las Animas.
Cherie Somavia collected a single, double and triple, scoring four runs for Williams Dental Lab. Celia Bonilla added two doubles and a single to the Lab offense. Nikki Thompson went 5-for-5 and Elena Ayala provided four hits for Stubby’s Girls.
Don’s Vending finished the B half at 3-3 with an 18-3 nod over Kay’s Kids.
Kay’s Kids will play in the C Championship Series beginning Wednesday Aug. 9 at 8:50pm at Christmas Hill Park.
Andrea Castaneda and Vanessa Pena each went 4-for-4 for Don’s Vending. Melissa Taku added a home run, double and single. Stephanie Regalado swatted a two-run single for Kay’s Kids.
Men’s DD
Louie & the Outlaws earned the second-half Men’s DD League crown Tuesday by defeating Thousand Trails Punishers 20-7 at Gavilan.
Don Rose and John Hernandez lashed home runs as the Outlaws finished the half at 6-0. The Outlaws open DD post-season action on Wednesday Aug. 9 at 7:40pm at Las Animas.
Rose, Javier Huerta and Anthony Hernandez each went 4-for-4 for the Outlaws. Vince Young went 2-for-3 for the Punishers.
The Loco Boys finished second at 5-1 by topping the Titans 13-7. Chris Eslick and Rick Castaneda each went 3-for-3 for the Loco Boys. Johnny Ramirez hit two home runs and a single for the Titans. The Titans open E post-season play against Campbell’s Towing on Thursday Aug. 10 at 7:40pm at Christmas Hill.
Juan Arias hit a home run, triple and two singles to spur Pacific Coast Bail Bonds past Deadman Inc. 21-6. Nick Doubek homered and Keith Hirahara and Andy Parra each doubled and singled for Deadman Inc.
New Hope Community Church powered past the Assassins 27-23. Christian Alonzo and Isaac Agliotis each netted five hits for New Hope. Jesse Badilla, Rudy Maquinalez and Ivan Acevedo each homered for the Assassins. Acevedo took team batting honors with a 5-for-5 effort.
