It has been said many times that golf and baseball are very
similar.
It has been said many times that golf and baseball are very similar.
The one glaring difference in the swings is that the back foot spins in a baseball or softball swing thus allowing your hips to open up FIRST. This is not true during a good golf swing. If you spin on your back foot and open you hips you will pull or slice your shot every time.
The key to a good golf swing and a solid impact is keeping contact with the instep of your right foot and the ground through impact with the ball. If the instep behind your right toe is still in contact with the ground then you are sliding your hips laterally to transfer your weight to the front leg as you are suppose to. When you lose contact with the instep too quickly then you are spinning on your back foot and your back heel comes off the ground too soon.
Look at pictures in golf magazines and you will see this contact of the instep of the right foot and the ground at the moment the club is striking the ball. The pivot of the foot comes after impact not FIRST.
