California Highway Patrol Officer Erica Elias shows Michele

Kohl’s and the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford will be hosting a free car safety event and car seat fitting from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Gilroy Kohl’s, located at 6765 Camino Arroyo.
To start the event, executives from Kohl’s will present the children’s hospital with a check for $110,492 for its child safety and outreach program that supports child safety efforts throughout the Bay Area.
Megan Alpers, assistant director of development communications for the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, said 80 percent of car seats for children are not properly installed – and those seats have expiration dates.
The free event is open to the public and all families are invited to attend to learn from child safety experts. Alpers said families should come in the car they regularly drive their child in, along with the car seat, and technicians will ensure the seats are properly installed.
Alpers said Kohl’s has donated more than $990,000 to support the Packard Children’s Hospital since 2005.
