Dear Editor,
In a recent letter to the editor, “Planning Commission should recommend that ‘shovel ready’ exemption be repealed”, the Fisher family eloquently tries to make the case for shelving the shovel ready exemption from the development ordinance. I see this as just more of the same from the anti-growth folks here in Gilroy.
The exemption is a good rule that allows smaller developers doing in-fill projects to avoid the reams of paperwork and the extended calendar nightmares faced by all developers. I could probably name the folks who are going to be at the Planning Commission meeting to support the Smith proposal. Don’t be fooled by environmental fascists who will use the law, the council and any other red herring to stop the spread of the human virus in Gilroy. I hope the planning commission will bury the anti-growth folks, once and for all.
