Dear Editor

This letter is in response to your editorial on July 8 entitled “More teeth needed for pit bull ordinances”

You punish the deed, not the breed. I own an Amstaff that is a perfect member of my household and my community. So why should I not be allowed to own my dog?

I’ve done nothing wrong nor has my dog. If you ban the breed, this all goes underground, it does not go away. Don’t make good responsible dog owners the scapegoat in this issue. Go after those who allow their dogs to do damage, and leave us responsible citizens alone.
