Your article about Gary Young’s death from Covid really touched me (South Valley, June 12, 2020). Gary was always a bright presence at Orchard Supply, then at Lowe’s. I couldn’t pass him without some mutual recognition; a simple hello or a brief conversation.
At one point, both our wives were undergoing treatment for serious health problems, and we encouraged each other. At other times we just joked, but whatever the exchange, I left happier.
I’m sure it’s some consolation to his family that Gary added sincere warmth and humor to many peoples’ lives.
