Favorite Book: “It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life” by Lance Armstrong

Book synopsis: Armstrong’s non-fiction book is a firsthand account of the three-time Tour de France champion’s battle with cancer. Source – www.wegrokit.com

Why is it your favorite book?: “It deals with real life and how we are all given different challenges throughout life. It is how we conquer and overcome these challenges by placing our heart, soul and mind behind it. It just proves that we can achieve whatever we desire.”

How did it change your life?: “It just reminded me how fortunate I am to have my health and my family. It also reminded me of all the hard work and dedication that it took to get me to where I am today, and to never lose sight of that. Keep believing and have faith.”

Why did you read the book?: “I read the book for fun and also because it was based on a real life journey.”

In concert with the Gilroy Unified School District’s “Love of Literacy Week,” The Dispatch will ask high-profile folks around town to discuss their favorite books.
