Garlic Roamers, Marines are collecting toys for tots

The Gilroy Elks RV group, The Garlic Roamers, has started its annual Toys for Tots drive in conjunction with the U.S. Marines.

Residents can contribute by bringing an unwrapped toy to the Gilroy Elks Lodge, 2765 Hecker Pass Highway.

SVCT presents ‘Scrooge! the Musical’

South Valley Civic Theatre presents Scrooge! the Musical Friday, Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m.; matinees today, Dec. 2 and 9 at 2 p.m.

Discuss Sports Park Trail at Thursday Meeting

Citizens are invited to attend an informative and interactive trail scoping meeting at the Gilroy City Council Chambers at 7 p.m. Thursday. Enchilada fiesta benefits ADB violin program

The 4th annual Antonio Del Buono Elementary School Enchilada Fiesta will be held Friday. Dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. with a violin concert at 7 p.m.

Advance tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children. Adult tickets are $7 at the door. There will be an elaborate silent auction as well as raffles throughout the evening.

Children, violins and holidays

Women’s Connection hosts Holiday breakfast buffet

Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m., Women’s Connection will be hosting a special Holiday Breakfast Buffet and Fashion Show.

This event will take place at Coyote Creek Golf Club off of U.S. 101 at One Coyote Creek Drive, Morgan Hill.

The speaker will be Kara Miller, an Air Force Academy graduate and Desert Storm veteran. She will discuss how she traded a “driven life” for a “life of purpose.” All women currently in the military, veterans and women related to someone in the military (including Blue Star Moms) will be given special recognition. Some scholarships are available for wives of servicemen currently deployed. Feel free to inquire when making your reservations. Reservations required.

The price for this event is $22 inclusive, for paid registration received by Nov. 30, and $25 from Dec. 1 to 6, with no walk-ins.

Symphony presents ‘Sounds of the Holiday Season’

South Valley Symphony presents “Sounds of the Holiday Season” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, 6000 Miller Ave., Gilroy, with the Gavilan Concert Choir, directed by Phil Robb.

Admission prices for this event are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens age 55 and older, and $10 for students aged 12 to 18. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free with a paid adult admission.
