Donations for homeless during winter
Gilroy – St. Joseph’s Family Center and Articulate Solutions are continuing their efforts to help keep the homeless in our community warm and dry throughout the winter. Donations needed to help purchase and assemble Winter Survival Kits. The kits will contain items that will be helpful during the cold winter months: water repellent sleeping bags and jackets, backpacks, knit caps and gloves, flashlights and sundries such as toothpaste, socks and soap.
Checks may be written out to St. Joseph’s Family Center. Please mark your check “Winter Survival Kit.” Donations may be mailed to St. Joseph’s, located at 7950 Church Street, Suite A in Gilroy or Articulate Solutions, located at 65 Fifth Avenue, Suite 100, also in Gilroy.

MySpace seminar
Gilroy – The public is invited to attend a free seminar staged by Mount Madonna School titled “Raising a Moral Child in the MySpace Era,” from 7 to 8pm Thursday in the Gilroy Library, 7387 Rosanna St.
Sarada Diffenbaugh, Mount Madonna principal and educator, will lead the discussion and talk about the key principles needed to raise an ethical child.
Third Annual Enchilada Fiesta
Gilroy – The Antonio Del Buono Violin program is holding their annual fundraiser dinner from 4 to 7pm Friday with a violin concert at 7pm.
Tickets are $7 adults and $3 kids at the door. There also will be a silent auction and raffle.

Exchange Club of Gilroy Dinner
Gilroy – Harvest dinner and auction 6 to 10pm, Friday, at the IFDES Hall, Forest and Old Gilroy streets. Cost is $25 per person, and the meal includes, roasted chicken dinner, dessert and coffee.

Get spooked at St. Mary haunted house
Gilroy – Get spooked from 6 to 9pm Saturday at St. Mary Gym (enter from 1st St.) Donation: $3. Bring the little ones to the free kid’s area for crafts and candy. Food and beverages available.
GHS basketball fundraiser
Gilroy – The GHS boys’ and girls’ basketball programs are proud to announce the 3rd Annual GHS Basketball Fundraiser Golf Tournament, Saturday, at the Gilroy Golf Course, beginning at noon. Cost is $85 per player, and includes: 18 holes with cart, food and beverages on the course, barbecue dinner, awards and more.

Halloween Run
Gilroy – The 15th annual Halloween Run co-sponsored by Gavilan Joggers and Striders and the Gilroy Recreation Dept. will be held Saturday. Registration is at 7:30am. Two races: 10k race is at 9am and 5k at 9:15am. Register online or by calling Richard Young.

Sixth Annual Halloween Spooktacular
Gilroy – Bring your costumed children trick-or-treating at Gilroy Premium Outlet’s Sixth Annual Halloween Spooktacular from 4 to 6pm Oct. 31. Free glow bracelets will be distributed to the first 1,000 children who stop by the Information Center located in Building C. Free trick-or-treat bags will also be provided to the first 1,000 children.
Candy and treats will be given out by participating merchants who will be identified with a flyer posted to the door.
