A San Francisco man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly ramming a stolen car into another vehicle in Hollister, causing minor injuries to a passenger in the hit vehicle.
After receiving a report of reckless driving toward Meridian Street, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a lookout for the vehicle, which officers believe intentionally collided with another vehicle, according to a press release. CHP later learned the car was stolen.
Officers located the vehicle – without the driver – near Meridian and Barnes Lane and found shotgun shells inside, according to CHP. They set a perimeter around the vehicle, but later found the suspect near Barnes Lane hiding in the bushes.
The man did not obey officers’ verbal commands, became belligerent and started advancing toward the officers, prompting use of a TASER on the suspect, according to CHP. The suspect, a 27-year-old man from San Francisco, was arrested and booked into the San Benito County Jail.
Recommended charges include felony driving while under the influence, assault with a deadly weapon and driving without a license.
The injured passenger in the vehicle that was rammed, meanwhile, was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital for treatment.
