Mary Louise Keig died Wednesday, May 14, 2003.
She was born in Casper, Wyo., on Jan. 24, 1924, and moved with her family to California in 1935. Mary Louise graduated from UC Berkeley in 1946 and later earned a teaching credential from San Jose State.
In Morgan Hill she was a longtime member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church. There she trained and scheduled lay readers and lectors; she was active in outreach activities and served as senior warden on the St. John’s vestry.
Mary Louise was a longtime member of the Morgan Hill Branch of the American Association of University Women, and served one term as president. From age 11 she was an avid fan and student of opera and served one year as president of the San Jose Opera Guild. For many years she was a docent for in school opera programs.
Mary Louise is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bill Keig; sister Catherine Long; children William Edmonds, Cathy, Carol and Leslie; and grandchildren Margaret, Elizabeth, Ryan and Douglas.
Friends are invited to attend a burial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the St. John the Divine Building Fund, 17740 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill 95037.
