DEAR EDITOR:
There are more than 100 candidates running to replace Gov. Gray Davis, but only a few “front-runners.” Still, this is not a race between two opposing candidates, as in a general election (the Press thinks it’s between Cruz Bustamante and Arnold Schwarzenegger).
Consider the state of affairs in California, and ponder who among our choices could possibly fix this financial mess without raising taxes, or increasing costs. Consider our state legislators‚ obsessive compulsion to spend money that doesn’t exist – forcing increases in taxes and other costs to citizens and businesses to pay for it all. Who can stop this wasteful spending?
Bustamante plans to raise taxes by $8 billionËœhe said so himself. So, what about Schwarzenegger? He promises not to raise taxes – except in an “emergency.” The Sacramento Bee says Arnold’s advisors studied our budget, and “can’t make heads or tails of it.” So, how’s he going to fix it?
There is only ONE candidate who has a real plan to repair California within three years – without raising taxes: Sen. Tom McClintock. He has pledged NOT to raise taxes. His plan is at www.TomMcClintock.com. No computer? Your library provides time on the Internet.
