HOLLISTER – A Morgan Hill resident was arrested in Hollister Wednesday morning on suspicion of molesting a minor, Morgan Hill police said.
Juan “John” William Macadaeg, 44, was arrested near his place of employment by Morgan Hill police about 11 a.m. Wednesday after police received a call from a 17-year-old female earlier that morning saying that she had been either physically or sexually abused for possibly two months, said Morgan Hill Police Lt. Joe Sampson.
“Until the DA investigates, it is unconfirmed whether it was both or just physical or what,” Sampson said.
Macadaeg was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail Wednesday evening on suspicion of felony sexual penetration by force, misdemeanor sexual battery and misdemeanor annoying or molesting a child, according to jail personnel.
Police declined to specifically detail the accusations because the matter is under investigation.
The minor said Macadaeg had punched her in the chest after an argument, and she then called police from a pay phone, according to a police statement. Later, the minor alleged instances of sexual abuse, the statement said.
“There only has to be one instance of that (to be arrested for sexual abuse),” Sampson said. “It doesn’t matter if it lasted for one month, one week or one minute.”
Macadaeg is in custody in lieu of $200,000 bail, and the case will be forwarded to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
Macadaeg, a Free Lance employee, has four prior arrests out of the San Jose area dating back to 1979, the most recent in 1989, according to the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
