Dear Editor:

To F.A. Ziemann and L. Castillo and others who would like to view the Megan’s Law files: Morgan Hill Police Department staff was very nice to me when I asked to view the list of sex offenders in Gilroy. It was a matter of convenience that I stopped there that day instead of Gilroy or anywhere else.

No one stood over me and watched. I agree that would have felt uncomfortable.

Perhaps Gilroy Police would like to offer an explanation as to why it is their policy to observe a citizen, who, after submitting proper identification, would need to be “watched” as they exercise their legal right to view the information?
