Authorities are investigating a stabbing incident that left a 20-year-old man with a half-inch cut on his leg.

Morgan Hill police responded to a fight near the 18200 block of Shadowbrook Way, in northwest Morgan Hill about 2 a.m. Sunday, Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.

When they arrived, officers learned that Tyler Rincon, 20 of Morgan Hill, had suffered a stab wound to his left hip during the fight. No arrests have been made, and police declined to release the identity of any suspects.

Rincon was treated at San Jose Regional Hospital, where he received five staples to the cut, Neumayer said. He was released later the same day.

Police do not think the incident was gang-related, Neumayer said. Police do not know why the two people were fighting because they have told officers conflicting statements.

“We don’t have any direct witnesses, and we’re still processing evidence,” Neumayer said.
