Morgan Hill police made two separate arrests of suspects on related drug charges Thursday after identifying a suspicious character hanging around the parking lot of the Executive Inn, located at 16505 Condit Road in Morgan Hill.
Andrew Balagot, 28, of Santa Clara, faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drugs for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officer William Jurevich first contacted Balagot at 8:40 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot and, after not taking Balagot’s word that he was simply visiting a “female friend,” discovered “narcotic related text messages on his phone.” Upon further investigation, Jurevich discovered a large amount of methamphetamine, cash and drug paraphernalia in the glove box of the suspect’s vehicle.
Jurevich, along with Officer Kathleen Price, then contacted Balagot’s female friend, 33-year-old Melissa Miller, who was staying at the motel and learned that she had multiple felony warrants for drug violations. Miller, who is from El Cerrito, was arrested and given an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both suspects were transported and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
Anyone with information regarding possible drug activity is encouraged to contact Street Crimes Detective Jason Broyer of the Morgan Hill Police Department at (408) 779-2101 or the anonymous tip line at 408-947-STOP (7867).
