A weekend motorcycle run from Moss Landing to Gilroy will be held in honor of three local military servicemen who were killed in action.
The 2011 KIA Honor Run is scheduled for Saturday, and will pay tribute to Conrado D. Javier Jr., a U.S. Army private first class from Marina; George J. Howell, a U.S. Army private first class from Prunedale; and Jeramy A. Ailes, a U.S. Marine Corps lance corporal from Gilroy.
Check-in for the event begins at 10 a.m. at the J&S Surplus and Eagle Iron & Leather shops on U.S. Highway 1 and Struve Road at Moss Landing.
There is a $25 suggested donation.
Ailes died at age 22 on November 15, 2004 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.
Javier was 19 when he was killed in action Dec. 19, 2010 in Kandahar, Afghanistan when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device. The 24-year-old Howell fell Dec. 21, 2007 in Riyadh, Iraq when his vehicle was also hit by an improvised explosive device.
