Perfect attendance for 3 GHS seniors

Gilroy High School seniors walked away from a night of awards and scholarships with thousands of dollars in their hands to help them through college.

Three seniors were commended for their remarkable attendance. Dana Kendra Peters, Juan Ramon Gonzalez and Maritza Gonzalez missed not a single class over their four years spent at GHS. Among other awards and award winners, these three students received $500 each for their commitment to school. Four years worth of classes equates to 2,592 classes that the students were neither tardy for or absent from, District Attendance Officer Frank Valadez said.

“If you consider all of the distraction and activities that occur on a h high school campus this size, talking with friends during passing periods, the rallies, the walkouts, even senior cut day – they did not miss a beat,” he said.

Top readers treated to night out

The three top readers in Ms. Nino’s 3rd grade class at Rucker Elementary School were treated to an exciting night out at The Inn at Tres Pinos. Nino handed out raffle tickets for reading chapters and when the children’s names were drawn, their reward was a very memorable field trip to The Inn at Tres Pinos for dinner. During the year, the owner of The Inn at Tres Pinos came to the school and taught the children about etiquette.
