California Sports Center (CSC) celebrates its 25th anniversary with the grand opening of a new gymnastics facility in Morgan Hill, its seventh facility in San Clara County. The facility 16959 Monterey Road in Morgan Hill, will be completely renovated and equipped with all new state-of-the-art equipment. The 6,000 square foot gym will be home to both boys and girls ages from 18 months to 18 years old. CSC will provide preschool, recreational and team classes for the children and families in Morgan Hill and surrounding areas. The programs will teach how to perform level appropriate routines, just like a competitive gymnast where students enjoy a “Gold Medal Day” graduation every eight weeks where they earn the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in front of a live audience of friends, family and staff.

On June 21, the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce helped celebrate the opening of The Barn at Hoey Ranch with owners, Jim and Debbie Hoey. Known to rise before daylight and travel to remote parts of the state, the Hoey’s have stocked their barn with unique and one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor treasures they have discovered on their trips. Pinnacle Bank announced that Sam Bozzo has been named Chairman of the South County Advisory Board. Bozzo has been a Gilroy resident for 35 years. He is a past president of the Gilroy Garlic Festival and a member of the Festival's Strategic Planning Group made up of past presidents and founding members. He is a member of the City of Gilroy Personnel Commission and Brandman University adjunct faculty teaching in the Educational Leadership Graduate Program. He is married with two sons and three grandchildren.

Greenstreak Landscaping of Gilroy, lead by owner Pete Gluhaich, received two regional awards and one state award from the California Landscape Contractors Association. The company has won total of 58 CLCA Awards. State Awards were announced at the annual convention held Nov. 18, 2011 in Maui, Hawaii. Greenstreak won for Outstanding Achievement in Medium Residential Installation for the Ellis Residence. Local awards for the Central Coast were handed out June 22, 2012 in Santa Cruz. Greenstreak awards included First Place, Beautification Awards for Large Residential Installation and First Place Beautification Award Small Residential Maintenance again for the Ellis Residence.

Fortino Winery received 11 awards combined from San Francisco Wine Chronicle Competition, 2012 San Diego International Wine Competition,  2012 Los Angeles Wine & Spirits Competition, and 2012 Orange County Commercial Wine Competition.

The Tennis Shop, a new full service tennis shop near downtown Morgan Hill, held a grand opening event March 19 with owners Trent and Rebecca Norris along with family and friends. The shop offers tennis racket stringing, a racket demo program, shoes, bags, apparel and accessories. The South County is very pleased to now have a local tennis shop. Phil Fortino has been appointed vice president and business banking officer for Rabobank, N.A. As business banking officer, Fortino is responsible for fostering relationships with small- to medium-sized companies and providing solutions to meet the banking needs of customers in Gilroy, Hollister and the surrounding area. Before joining Rabobank, Fortino served as small business banker for Bank of America and was president and general manager for his own company, Fortino’s Total Home. He attended Gavilan College in Gilroy and Fresno Technical College.
