Lisa Faria recognized by Gilroy City Council
Lisa Faria was recognized and awarded a certificate of appreciate by the Gilroy City Council for her service on the Public Arts Committee. Lisa was a member of the committee from Jan. 1, 2007- Dec. 31, 2013.
Tasso’s Old House celebrates 20 years
Tasso and Maria Perakis celebrated 20 years in Gilroy Nov. 24, 2013, and to commemorate it, they snipped the red ribbon. Joining them were friends and neighbors from around the community, including Mayor Don Gage. Tasso's Old House Restaurant features American, Italian and Greek cuisine; prime rib, lobster, steaks, chops, pasta and fresh seafood, and is a local favorite on the corner of First and Hanna streets. Ellington recognized as a top advisor
Kristi Ellington was recognized as a top financial advisor and named to the LPL Financial Director’s Club. This distinction is based on an annual production ranking of the approximately 13,100 registered advisors nationwide who are supported by LPL Financial LLC (“LPL Financial”). Ellington provides independent financial planning services, investment advice and asset management services to more than 250 households in the Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Hollister area.
Station 55 celebrates new owners
On Oct. 12, the community welcomed Station 55’s new owners, Shauna and Charles Davis, to downtown Gilroy. Their restaurant is located at 55 Fifth Street. They received enthusiastic support from the fire department, friends, family and the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce.
Golden Eagle ribbon cutting
Golden Eagle Mortgage Group, 17500 Depot St., Morgan Hill, held a ribbon cutting Nov. 7. Joining owner Pauline Amstutz were many Golden Eagle staff, members, ambassadors and staff of the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce and the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce. Morgan Hill Athletic Club joins Chamber of Commerce
The Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce ambassadors welcome the new Morgan Hill Athletic Club into the Chamber. The MHAC is located in the Walmart Center at 126 Cochrane Plaza. They are a very modern gym with all of the latest equipment.
Gilroy mural repainted and restored
Artist Gianni Martino, a resident of Italy who first painted the Fifth Street mural 20 years ago, returned to Gilroy in October to restore his original work of art. Gianni and his assistant, Mauro, completed the work Oct. 18. The Gilroy Downtown Business Association invited the community to join in celebrating the refurbishment of this downtown icon and to give thanks to the artists for their efforts.
Sakata Seeds celebrates grand opening
Sakata Seeds, 18095 Serene Drive in Morgan Hill, had a ribbon cutting Oct. 16. Sakata was celebrating both their return to the Chamber of Commerce and their new solar power throughout their facility. In attendance were Sakata employees, various members of the Chamber of Commerce and many more.
