Gilroy Police responded to more tricks than treats this Halloween week, including a few burglaries and vandalism. Here are a few events:

Arraignment scheduled for man suspected in nonprofit embezzlement scheme

Jorge Briones, the former Morgan Hill Downtown Association executive director who is accused of embezzling funds from the nonprofit organization, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Dec. 21 at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill, according to authorities.

Judge unsure if Lonnberg is mentally competent for trial

Ten months after a Gilroy woman was arrested for murder for killing her husband and daughter in a drunken car crash, the courts have wrestled with whether the suspect is mentally competent for trial.

The FBI arrested Aaron Carlon, 42 of Gilroy, at his workplace Monday morning, on a warrant for two felony counts of child pornography.

CHP says man steals car, causes fatal crash

An 18-year-old male from Watsonville was arrested after he allegedly caused a car crash on eastbound Highway 152 near Watsonville Road around 8:30 a.m. Monday that caused fatal injuries to his passenger.
