A 66-year man from Santa Clara died in a scooter crash Tuesday on Highway 25 in southern San Benito County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was Serge Andrei Morgan, according to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office. Morgan was killed in the accident that occurred at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday on southbound Highway 25 south of La Gloria Road in San Benito County, according to the CHP.
According to a CHP spokeswoman, the rider made an unsafe “turning movement” and collided with an embankment. The 2012 Vespa 300IE overturned on its side, ejecting the victim and leading to his death.
Vespa’s website noted that the scooter has a top speed as 80 mph.
The CHP noted that alcohol was not a factor and the collision remains under investigation.
