Gilroy felon with $1 million warrant arrested by SJPD

At 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, San Jose Police arrested an armed felon on a $1 million warrant for a firearm violation traveling northbound on Highway 17 near Summit Road. 

Two-way collision at Monterey and 10th streets

Three patrol units from the Gilroy Police department and one City of Gilroy vehicle responded to a two-way traffic collision that clogged up the intersection of 10th and Monterey streets around 1:12 p.m. Tuesday. 

1,000 Garlic Festival tickets stolen

An unknown suspect swiped 1,000 single-day admission tickets valued at $12,500 from the Gilroy Garlic Festival corporate office, according to Festival Executive Director Brian Bowe.

Fatal shooting at Sobrato complex

A 21-year-old Gilroy male was fatally shot by an unknown suspect Sunday night at Sobrato Transitional Apartments on Monterey Road, near Pinocchio’s Pizza No. 1.

Armed felon wanted on $1 million warrant

Gilroy police are asking the public for help in locating an armed felon who is on the lam as of Sunday night.

DA presses charges against landscape scammer

Nearly one month after the District Attorney launched an investigation the man that roams around South County, charming seniors into giving him money for jobs he never completes, the ialleged “landscape scammer” was arrested July 21 in Gilroy for 13 counts of petty theft and eight counts of misdemeanor elder fraud.

Judge to decide on uncensored police reports in Tara Romero case

The judge presiding over the case of five young men suspected of murdering Morgan Hill resident Tara Romero, 14, is expected to issue a ruling next week on whether or not the defendants can have access to uncensored police reports.

‘Joshie’ out of a coma, starting speech therapy

Joshua Valdez, 22, the Morgan Hill resident who was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident last month, is no longer comatose and recently started speech therapy at San Jose Regional Medical Center.
