The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department is asking for the community's help in finding a missing Morgan Hill teen, Sierra Lamar. 

The former San Jose police officer from Gilroy charged with illegal sexual contact with two teen boys pleaded “no contest” to two counts Thursday afternoon.

Eleven-year-old South Valley Middle School student Lucero Luna described by neighbors as a “kindhearted,” “sweet little girl” was shot in the head Wednesday night by her brother, 27-year-old Abel Gutierrez, an Iraq war veteran – who then turned the gun on himself, according to the Gilroy Police Department and neighbors who knew Lucero and her mother Martha Gutierrez.

Gilroy police are investigating what they are calling "a critical incident" at an apartment complex on the 9000 block of Kern Avenue in west Gilroy near Mantelli Drive.

Gilroy police incidents March 6 through March 13.

Morgan Hill police are investigating an armed robbery at a local hotel that might be related to two similar incidents that occurred in Hollister in recent days. 

Firefighters from the Gilroy Sunrise Station responded to a greenhouse fire at 8:15 a.m. on the 1900 block of Buena Vista Avenue that harmed hundreds of orchids and caused at least $10,000 in damage according to business manager Dan Tan.

Three Gilroy residents were arrested around 3 a.m. this morning for drug possession when they were allegedly found driving a car on the 7100 block of Rosanna Street so packed with marijuana that the trunk would not close.

The Gilroy man who’s been in custody since May 2011 for allegedly killing his wife’s 6-week-old Chihuahua puppy was deemed incompetent to continue on to trial – for now at least – according to Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Troy Benson.
