Drunk driver crashes into tree near elementary school
On Friday at 7:20 p.m., Billy Gidding, 31, was arrested for driving under the influence after losing control of his 1994 Chevrolet truck and careening into a tree on Wren Avenue near Antonio Del Buono Elementary School. Gilroy police arrested Gidding, who was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Greenhouse fire damages hundreds of orchids
Firefighters from the Gilroy Sunrise Station responded to a greenhouse fire at 8:15 a.m. on the 1900 block of Buena Vista Avenue that harmed hundreds of orchids and caused at least $10,000 in damage according to business manager Dan Tan.
