Firefighters contained a two to three-acre vegetation fire that broke out shortly before 3 p.m. today in a mowed hay field at 1935 Gwinn Avenue in San Martin, a Cal Fire spokesman confirmed.

Update Ballybunion, three hundred firefighters with air power battle brush fire
As of 7:00 p.m. three hundred firefighters were engaged in battling the Ballybunion fire and the blaze is currently contained by 10 percent and reportedly less than one hundred acres. However, fire officials believe that the blaze is under control. Fire department officials report that there was one injury of a Gilroy Fire Department firefighter and that no homes were in danger at the time. Cal Fire hopes to have the fire fully contained by Thursday, but more will be known in the morning.

Motorcyclist ‘severely injured’ in wreck on U.S. 101
At approximately 1:42 p.m. Friday, the California Highway Patrol responded to a motorcycle accident on U.S. 101 at the Masten Avenue exit in Gilroy. Based on the CHP's incident report, a helicopter is en route to provide aid to the “severely injured” driver.
