A Day at the Rodeo
Area special needs kids and adults were treated to a rip-roaring time at the rodeo last Saturday during the Day Out at the Ranch at Thorson’s Arena in San Martin. From a petting area put on by the Coyote Crest 4-H, horseback rides and lessons on how to ride and rope accompanied by bluegrass music and barbecue, the day offered opportunities to soak in the fun of the outdoors and offered a taste of country living. CHP Officer Chris Miceli is in his third year of organizing the rodeo.

City Sued Over Planned Tree Cuts
A Gilroy resident, who said the city broke state law by not informing the public about the 235 trees it plans to cut down, filed suit last week in Santa Clara County Superior Court asking that the project be stopped.
Family traumatized by false arrest
Kristy Hoenck, 36, was sleeping in her south Gilroy Spanish-style home on a quiet cul-de-sac when she heard her Ring doorbell alert going off and saw a video showing two shadows next to her cars in the driveway. She had just had surgery that day and was still dazed from anesthesia.
Two Arrested in Home Invasion
On May 26, 2017, just before midnight, Gilroy Police officers responded to a report a suspicious circumstance in the 7700 block of Curry Drive, in Gilroy. Two males not known to the area were reportedly loading items from a residence into a black vehicle parked out front.
