Gav doles out $83,400 in scholarships

At the annual Gavilan College Scholarship Awards Ceremony on Friday May 9, the Gavilan College Education Foundation and Financial Aid office dispersed more than $83,400 in scholarships for Gavilan College students. 72 separate monetary awards were given to 57 students, with some students garnering more than one award. 

SCC Farm Bureau golf tournament May 16

The Santa Clara County Farm Bureau’s 19th annual golf tournament fundraiser will take place Friday, May 16 at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister. Funds raised from the golf tournament will go toward the Farm Bureau’s mission to serve its members by preserving, protecting and promoting agriculture throughout the county as a business and as a way of life. In the last 18 years, the bureau has raised nearly $100,000 from the annual golf tournament to promote agriculture education, scholarships, financial assistance for students interested in agricultural careers, support of the county fair, curriculum and school gardens. Included in golf tournament entry price is a gourmet BBQ dinner at the San Juan Oaks clubhouse. The price is $195 per player, $780 per team or $980 per team plus “Green Sponsorship,” which includes a round of cocktails.
