New immunization law requires parents to make “informed decisions”

On Sep. 30 Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2109 into law which, as of Jan. 1, 2014, requires all California parents who do not have their children immunized to read information about the benefits and risks of immunizations. Parents must sign a waiver from a physician or a nurse practitioner stating they have received that information, before they will be allowed to enroll their children in school.

High school choir spaghetti dinner

The Gilroy and Christopher Choral Program will hold a fundraiser spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Gilroy High School cafeteria. Money from ticket sales helps pay for transportation to the Central California Choral Festival April 12 at Cal Poly, San Luis Opispo and also helps the Chamber Singers raise money to sing in Washington D.C. April 2-7. The goal is to sell 1,500 tickets. The meal includes pasta with three sauces made by Mama Mia’s, garlic bread, salad dessert and drink.
