CARLOS SAN MIGUEL, 69, passed on Monday August 2, 2010. Husband of Yolanda San Miguel of Gilroy. Preceded in death by his son, Michaelangelo San Miguel 1st. Survived by his son Michaelangelo San Miguel 2nd (Aurora) of Bakersfield, CA, Desiree Enciso (Melecio), Yolanda San Miguel (Vidal), C. Ramon San Miguel all of Gilroy; Grandfather of 22. Great-grandfather of one. Brother of Juan San Miguel Jr., Johnny San Miguel, Barbara Mirelez, Bert Mar (Coach Mar), Teddy Grimes, Guadalupe Furtado, Estella Garibay and the late Andres Nino. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins.
We have lost a selfless, hard-working man of integrity and honor. Skeet, to those who knew him, had a genuine love of others and a work ethic that reminds us that all things are possible. Clarence touched and changed the hearts of many and was responsible for raising a remarkable family who inherited his values. Clarence was a true believer in community service, and that philosophy was reflected throughout his life. Above all else, Clarence had a caring soul and he will be deeply missed by all.
Richard L. (Dick) Goodrich, 80, of Little Rock, AK, passed away on August 2, 2010. Surrounded by family and friends, Dick left this earthly life to begin a new life with his Heavenly Father.
Tina Berglund passed away peacefully of a short illness in Hollister at the age of 53. She was born in Hollister and lived here all of her life. She worked at Pinnacles National Monument and at Hazel Hawkins Hospital.
Sean was born in Gilroy, CA and grew up on the family farm on Day Road. He attended local schools, graduating from Gilroy High in 2001. He attended Gavilan College, San Francisco State and San Jose State.
Lucky Roger McHenry passed away at his home in Redding, CA with his wife Juanita (Milla) McHenry of 34 years by his side Sunday, Aug. 1st, 2010, of a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 8, 1945, to Charles and Ethel Lavada in Sacramento, CA where he grew up and attended schools until the 11th grade; then joined the Navy during the Vietnam War; he received his GED while doing his tour of duty on "The Tall Lady" USS Columbus CG12.
Age 84, of Hollister,CA, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James A. Hawksworth. She is survived by her two sisters, Frances Blanton, Marylou Sheridan and her husband Bill, her brother Robert Beckes and his wife Marilee, her two daughters, Deborah White, Lucinda (Cyndi) McGuire and her husband Patrick. Prior to moving to Hollister, Barbara and Jim lived in Mexico for 25 wonderful years where she became fluent in Spanish. Barbara loved to travel and was an avid gardener. She was active in the San Benito County Community. She volunteered for years at Hazel Hawkins Hospital and the Community Food Pantry.
Walter Walley, 83, of Morgan Hill, Calif., died Aug. 4, 2010, following a stroke. A native of McMechen, West Virginia, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, earned an AA degree and moved to California where he worked as a heavy duty mechanic for Granite Construction Co. in Watsonville for 35 years. Walter, better known by his nickname, Barney, was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 3 and loved all sports, especially baseball and fishing. He is survived by Viola Matranga Walley, his wife of 58 years; son Wayne Walley and his wife, Donna, of LeClaire, Iowa; daughter Joan Walley of Morgan Hill; grandson Jason Barr, his wife Mary and great grandchildren Viktoria and Xavier Barr of Roseville, Calif.; and sister Mary Walley Krysty of Wheeling, West Virgina. Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
