Lois. H. Tomberlin

Lois passed away peacefully on June 28, 2008 at the age of 84 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Knapp (Tom) and her three daughters Linda Frisbey of Aptos, Peggy Foster of Phoenix, Arizona and Sandy Jones of Hollister and her son-in-laws. She has 6 grandchildren and 10 great-children that she dearly loved. She is also survived by 2 sisters and an extended family in Georgia and South Carolina.

Mrs. Gomez passed on Thursday, June 27th, after a lengthy illness. Although she was born in Arizona, she lived in Gilroy for over 50 years.

Henry (Hank) Vowinkel

Henry "Hank" Vowinkel passed away June 24, 2008 in Los Gatos. A Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. followed by Funeral services starting at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, July 11th, 2008 at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

Carmela Scarcella

Carmela Scarcella, born in Brooklyn, NY to Anthony and Mary Villante, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2008. A resident of Gilroy for 35 years. She was 94 years old. Carmela came to California in 1955 with her husband Nunzio, who was a Sergeant First Class in the Army stationed at Ft. Ord. She held the position of Chief Telephone Operator at Ft. Ord for 18 years until her retirement in 1973. During that time , she received several awards and citations for her exceptional organizational and management skills.

Walter James Virgin, Jr.

Jim Virgin was born in San Jose, CA and grew up in Los Altos. He lived most of his life in Santa Clara County, attending local schools. Most recently he was employed by Electric Power & Research Co. (EPRI) in Palo Alto.

Annabel Sawyer Kropff

Annabel S. Kropff passed away at Gilroy Healthcare in Gilroy at the age of 97. She had lived in Gilroy since 1966 and was a member of the Methodist church. The date and time of a memorial service will be announced in a full obituary.

Joel Nathan McPherson

JOEL NATHAN MCPHERSON, 28, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Santa Teresa Kaiser Hospital after complications from pneumonia. Son of Mark & Karen McPherson of Gilroy. He was the brother of Zack McPherson of Gilroy and Mara Nicholson and her husband, Ryan of San Jose and uncle to Colton. Grandson of Billie McPherson of Santa Clara and the late Jay McPherson, Vern & Beth Lindvig.

Earl Sutton

He passed away at his home with his family by his side. He courageously fought a short illness with cancer. Proceeded in death by his wife Marie Sutton, & survived by George L. Sutton, Gary J. Sutton & his wife Amy, Earl Jon Sutton & his wife Stacey, Sandra M. Sutton, 12 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren: Angele Vitale, Rosaline Sutton, Mark Sutton, Melissa Sutton, Alexandra Sutton, Blaine Sutton, Taylor Sutton, Connor Sutton, Hunter Sutton, Jasmine Costa, Jenelle Costa & Tyler Pederson; Eva Jade Marie Rivera & Eva Marie Sutton, & beloved companion Mazie Osmus. Earl was a retired professional Rodeo Cowboy & truck driver from Central Concrete Supply Company Inc. in San Jose. Services will be held July 2, 2008, 5:00 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Street, Morgan Hill, CA 95037, Burial July 3, 2008 1:00 P.M. at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose. His family & friends would appreciate you celebrating his life afterwards at 12520 Watsonville Road, Gilroy, CA 95020.
