Police are searching for two Caucasian suspects who stole more than $1,000 in pain killers from the pharmacy of the 10th Street Rite Aid.
About 11:30 Saturday, a woman approached the pharmacy counter at the drug store and passed the pharmacist a note demanding narcotics as her male accomplice stood nearby and encouraged her, Sgt. Chad Gallacinao said. Though Gallacinao would not say specifically what the note said, the relative of a Rite Aid employee who preferred not to give his name said the note warned the pharmacist that the woman had a gun. Neither of the suspects ever produced a gun, however, and no one was hurt, Gallacinao said.
The pharmacist handed over several bottles and the suspects drove off in a tan Toyota, Gallacinao said. They escaped with $1,380 worth of oxycodone – a type of prescription pain pill – and OxyContin, a specific brand of oxycodone, police said.
“This is the first time I know of that this has happened within our city limits,” Gallacinao said of the robbed pharmacy.
After interviewing witnesses, police described the female suspect as Caucasian, in her 20s, standing about 5 feet 6 inches and weighing about 125 pounds with blonde hair. She wore sunglasses and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up during the robbery. The male suspect is also Caucasian, about 6 feet and 200 pounds. He wore a T-shirt and cargo shorts, police said. Both suspects and their car are outstanding and the investigation is ongoing, Gallacinao said.
