PBS’s television series “Victory Garden,” is accepting entries for its contest “Fast Food from the Garden.” Kids ages 6 to 10 can submit a photo journal detailing their garden.

The winning project will appear on ZOOM!, PBS’ daily interactive television series. The contest is aimed at educating more children about the benefits of “fresh from the garden” eating, which can aid in the fight against childhood obesity, an epidemic that is on the rise.

All kinds of gardens will be considered for the contest, from containers to community/group garden plots to backyard vegetable gardens. Some of the criteria for judging include diversity, relevance, and knowledge of items grown; plant condition and care shown; success despite challenging gardening conditions; and passion for the project.

All entrants will receive a “ZOOMerang” toy and Victory Garden pin in the mail.
