SV Music Makers Begins Fourth Year
Gilroy – Now beginning a fourth year of musical celebration and friendship, South Valley Music Makers will hold its next bimonthly meeting from 1 to 4pm, Saturday, June 23, at the studios of The Music Academy, Fourth and Church streets, in downtown Gilroy. The community is heartily invited to attend, to listen and enjoy, or perhaps to bring an instrument or some music and share.
South Valley Music Makers was established by Gilroy musicians Candace Fazzio and Chris and Jack Bradshaw in order to provide a venue for those wishing to share their favorite tunes and meet others who enjoy playing and listening to music of all varieties.
Attendees share their knowledge of the music in an open, interactive setting where audience members often contribute historical information, too. Both experienced and novice players share their repertoire in a nurturing environment. New “members” are always welcomed with a warm and accepting attitude.

Free Internet Class for 55 and Older
Gilroy – Gavilan College is now offering a course to teach adults older than 55 how to use the Internet. Students can now learn how to stay connected to their family and friends through e-mail and instant messaging. Students will learn how to use an e-mail account, search news sources, browse online, use interactive games and research topics of their choice.
The college is offering eight classes in Gilroy, Morgan Hill and Hollister. Students are not required to attend every class. The cost is free.
Students can register for LIB 730 at any three of the Gavilan College sites located in Gilroy, Morgan Hill and Hollister.

Help Beat Cancer at Relay For Life
Gilroy – Sign up or join a team for the June 23-24 Relay For Life at Christmas Hill Park. Cancer survivors may also sign up, join a team or register online and participate in the Survivor Lap at 10am June 23, followed by a luncheon.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those in the community who have been touched by cancer. The event celebrates survivors and raises money to help the American Cancer Society. Its mission is to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer and empower individuals to fight back. During the nationwide event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

Civil War Battle at Casa de Fruta
Hollister – The public is invited to meet the soldiers in the field and experience camp life first hand. Ongoing living history demonstrations depicting the daily life of the soldiers, women and children of the American Civil War and Victorian Era, 10021 Pacheco Pass Highway. The fun takes place from 1 to 4pm Saturday and from 11am to 2pm Sunday.

Enjoy the Global Family Festival
San Juan Bautista – Arts and crafts vendors again will provide entertainment from around the globe and it will take place June 23 and 24 on Third Street in San Juan Bautista. You’re likely to find Celtic dancers, Japanese Taiko drummers, or mariachis. The annual San Juan Bautista Mission Fiesta brings a multi-cultural experience to the city.
