The Gilroy Police Department responded to a variety of crimes this week, including first-degree burglary, vandalism of more than $50,000 worth of property and battery against a peace officer. Arrests were recorded in this week’s GPD blotter from Jan. 6 to Jan. 13.
Battery on a former cohabitant
-Richard Villa, 34, on Jan. 6 at 11:32 a.m. on the 6800 block of Camino Arroyo for battery of a former spouse or fiancé or cohabitant, and resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer.
-Manuel Hidalgo, 28, on Jan. 13 at 1:44 a.m. on the 7900 block of Monterey Road for battery on a former spouse, fiancé or cohabitant.
-Derek Harris, 29, on Jan. 9 at 7:13 p.m. near the intersection of Wren Avenue and Carla Way for committing rape, and battery of a former spouse, fiancé or cohabitant.
Theft
-Leslie Jones, 67, on Jan. 6 at 10:28 a.m. on the 800 block of First Street for theft.
-Julio Aguayo, 38, on Jan. 9 at 2:23 a.m. near the intersection of Monterey Street and Horlien Court for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
-Larry Giles, 31, on Jan. 13 at 6:12 a.m. near the intersection of Wren Avenue and Carla Way for parole hold, possession of stolen property and theft or unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Vandalism
-Glen Robertson, 25, on Jan. 8 at 11:10 p.m. on the 8300 block of Monterey Street for vandalism of property not belonging to the suspect.
-Jenevie Martinez, 21, on Jan. 12 at 5:06 p.m. near the intersection of Eigleberry Street and Sixth Street for vandalism of more than $50,000 worth of property, threats to commit crime resulting in bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon or grenade.
Burglary
-Garcia Ismael, 45, on Jan. 6 at 9:03 a.m. near the intersection of Carmel Street and Second Street for possession of a controlled substance and first-degree burglary.
-Ignacio Gandaria, 48, on Jan. 9 at 4:23 p.m. near the intersection of Luis and Rogers Lane for possession of burglary tools and first-degree burglary.
-Joe Ibarra, 30, on Jan. 6 at 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Third Street and Monterey Road for re-arrest probation violation, possession of a controlled substance, and first-degree burglary.
Previous violator of revocation
-Daniel Chavez, 33, on Jan. 10 at 1:20 p.m. on the 7300 block of Hanna Street for being a previous violator of revocation.

-Martin Aburto, 47, on Jan. 6 at 12:31 a.m. near the intersection of First Street and Wren Avenue for driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher.
-Jessica Chavez, 20, on Jan. 9 at 1:13 a.m. near the intersection of Padova Street and Monticelli Drive for driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence.
-David Hermosillo, 35, on Jan. 10 at 11:58 p.m. near the intersection of Mantelli Drive and Wren Avenue for driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence.
-Raul Martinez, 55, on Jan. 11 at 2:13 a.m. near the intersection of Church Street and Third Street for driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher and driving under the influence.
-Rafael Nunez, 68, on Jan. 12 at 10:44 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey Road and IOOF Avenue for driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher.
Possession of a controlled substance
-Jason Benitez, 35, on Jan. 10 at 11:59 p.m. on the 400 block of Leavesley Road for possession of a controlled substance and for resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer.
Battery on a peace officer
-Abraham Reyes, 27, on Jan. 11 at 6:26 p.m. near the intersection of Rosanna Street and Tenth Street for threatening crime with intent to terrorize, false imprisonment, resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer and battery on a peace officer or emergency personnel.
