Police Blotter: Recent arrests made in Gilroy and Morgan Hill

A thief used a Forest Street resident’s checking account to pay
$512.41 for online pornography, between May 12 and Aug. 19.
Robbery

A woman’s ex-boyfriend approached her on Arroyo Circle despite a restraining order and demanded that she accompany him to an afternoon court hearing that involved both of them, 12:11 p.m. Aug. 21. When she refused to accompany him, he took her cell phone from her hand and ran.

Found property

An unidentified person found an 18-speed silver and bronze Next Power X bike on Rossi Lane, Aug. 19.

An unidentified person found a black cloth wallet with $7 and two Barnes and Noble gift cards and rope on the wallet at El Roble Park, 3:59 p.m. Aug. 23.

Forgery

An unidentified person cashed a fraudulent check at Franco’s Imports on Old Gilroy Street, 6:45 p.m. June 28.

Assault

An unidentified person was assaulted in front of her home on Fairview Drive, 5:30 p.m., Aug. 20.

A suspect known only as Raphael used a screwdriver to strike a man three times on the head on Monterey Street, 6:59 p.m. Aug. 21. The victim suffered a 1- to 2-inch head wound and was transported to Saint Louise Hospital for treatment.

Grand theft

A thief or thieves broke into a home on Bay Tree Drive and stole two XBox 360 games systems valued at $600 and six games valued at $270, between 12 and 6 p.m., Aug. 19.

Two suspects stole three iPods valued at $700 from the display case at Target on Camino Arroyo and left the store without paying for them, 3 p.m., Aug. 9.

Two suspects approached a woman on San Ysidro Avenue from behind and snatched her purse, which contained $800 in cash, a Blackberry Verizon phone valued at $300, an Apple iPod valued at $300, 5:31 p.m. July 31.

Injury accident

A gold 2000 Chevrolet rear-ended a silver 2008 Dodge near Mantelli Drive and Spencer Court, 7:11 p.m. Aug. 20. Both drivers were transported to the hospital and the cars were towed from the scene.

Commercial burglary

Police responded to an alarm call on the 8600 block of San Ysidro Avenue, 4:48 a.m., July 21. When police arrived, they found the side glass door was ajar and shattered, causing $500 in damage.

No injury accident

A black 2009 Toyota was involved in a traffic collision near Oak Brook Way and Thomas Road, 7:35 a.m., Aug. 21.

Residential burglary

A home was burglarized on Eigleberry Street but no property was taken, between 2:20 and 3:12 p.m. Aug. 21.

A burglar took an RCA TV valued at $100, a Coby DVD player valued at $150, an empty safe valued at $75 and tattoo needles valued at $28 from a residence on Eigleberry Street, between 12:30 p.m. Aug. 8 and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22.

Petty theft

A thief stole a gold metal men’s wedding band valued at $300 and $25 in miscellaneous stamps from a residence on Alder Street, between 6 p.m. Aug. 14 and 11:45 p.m. Aug. 18.

A thief stole a rear license plate from a white 2003 Cadillac near Forest and Sixth streets, between 8:30 a.m. Aug. 21 and 3 p.m. Aug. 22.

Two suspects went into a liquor store on the 700 block of First Street and stole two bottles of Hennessy liquor valued at $97.98, 8:06 p.m. Aug. 23.

A thief stole a black Townie bike with silver flames valued at $325 from Ronan Avenue, 2 a.m., July 26.

Fraud

A thief used a Forest Street resident’s checking account to pay $512.41 for online pornography, between May 12 and Aug. 19.

A Monterey Street resident noticed unauthorized charges of $26.91 and $39.95 being withdrawn from her account every month for the past four years, Aug. 22.

Stolen vehicle

A thief stole a black 1995 Honda Accord from Stephan Court, between 11 p.m. Aug. 21 and 6 a.m. Aug. 22.

Animal

An aggressive loose dog was seized from Rosanna Street and taken to the Gilroy Police Department kennels, 10:42 a.m., Aug. 22.

Recovered vehicle

A black 1990 Honda stolen from Los Banos was recovered on Forest Street, 3:11 p.m. Aug. 22.

Vandalism

A vandal climbed over a fence on Mount Vernon Way and broke six terracotta pots and caused $200 damage to the screen door, 8:30 a.m. Aug. 22.

A vandal tagged a GMC Suburban near Third Street and Wren Avenue, causing $2,000 in damage, 1 p.m. Aug. 10.

Auto burglary

A burglar or burglars took a pair of brown sunglasses and a silver necklace valued at $50 from a white 2002 Fiat on West 10th Street, between 10 p.m. Aug. 19 and 7:30 a.m., Aug. 20.

A burglar or burglars took a CD player/radio valued at $180, a black iPod Touch valued at $279 and a red Kodak digital camera valued at $245 from Chiesa Drive, 9 p.m. Aug. 18.

A burglar or burglars broke the front passenger window of a white 2008 Toyota on First Street, causing $750 in damage, and stole a purse, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Aug. 21.

A burglar or burglars broke into a black 2006 Nissan on West 10th Street and took credit cards and a social security card, 1 p.m. Aug. 23.

Lost property

An unidentified person reported lost property on San Ysidro Avenue, between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Aug. 22.
