Auto burglary

A burglar or burglars stole a CD player valued at $100, a pair of men’s sunglasses valued at $60, a flashlight valued at $10 and beef jerky valued at $5 from a 1992 blue Honda Accord on Church Street, between 10 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. May 1.

A burglar or burglars took tools valued at $7,400 from the trunk of a white 1999 Mitsubishi on Eigleberry Street, between 8 p.m. May 3 and 7:57 a.m. May 4.

A vandal broke the front window of a silver 2006 Hyundai Tiburon on Stone Court, between 8 p.m. May 4 and 6:20 a.m. May 5. Nothing appeared to be missing.

A burglar or burglars broke the driver’s side window of a white 2004 Chevrolet Astro company van on Stoney Court and took miscellaneous tools valued at $1,900 and three rolls of copper valued at $750, between 8 p.m. May 4 and 6:20 a.m. May 5.

A burglar or burglars smashed the window of a silver 2004 Dodge Caravan on Stoney Court and took 200 CDs valued at $1,500 and a black purse, between 11:30 p.m. April 29 and 7 a.m. April 30.

A burglar or burglar took a stereo valued at $85 from a blue 1993 GMC Suburban on Stoney Court, between 12:01 a.m. April 26 and 6:19 p.m. April 30.

A burglar or burglars broke into a black 2001 Dodge Durango on Wisteria Drive and took a stereo valued at $350, an amp valued at $300, a subwoofer valued at $200, a black men’s jacket valued at $40, mechanics tools valued at $400 and damaged a DVD player, between April 30 and May 1. There was no signs of forced entry into the car.

A burglar or burglars took a stereo valued at $350 from a brown 1999 Chevrolet on Santa Barbara Drive, 3 p.m. May 1.

A burglar or burglars broke the window and pried open the door of a white 2005 Chevrolet Venture on the 500 block of Stoney Court and took a Blackberry cell phone valued at $525 and a Dewalt drill valued at $600, between 9 p.m. April 1 and 10 a.m. April 2. The burglar or burglars also caused $2,000 in damage to the steering column.

Fraud

A thief or thieves attempted to use a Bearcat Court resident’s information to purchase a vehicle, 11:34 a.m. May 2.

A person’s credit card was stolen in Hollister and used at Gamestop, Fancy Nails and Rock Zone in Gilroy, 11:27 a.m. May 1.

Hit and run

The driver of a red 2005 Honda Civic was backing up while on private property on Leavesley Road and was struck by the driver of a white vehicle that left the scene before police could arrive, 12:48 a.m. May 2.

A silver 2001 Chevrolet Blazer was involved in a hit and run accident on Glenview Avenue, 2:49 p.m. May 3.

A gold 2008 Kia Optima was involved in a hit and run accident on First Street, 2:06 p.m. May 3.

A hit and run collision involving a brown 1991 Cadillac Seville, a tan 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe and a brown 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis occurred on Kelton Drive, 10:45 p.m. April 30.

Commercial burglary

A burglar or burglars entered a portable building on West 10th Street through a window, 12:48 a.m. May 2. It was unclear from the report if anything was taken.

A burglar or burglars cut the screen of an apartment on Wren Avenue, opened the window, took a fire extinguisher and tagged the inside walls and doors, between 8:10 p.m. May 2 and 8:15 a.m. May 3.

Two suspects were arrested after stealing a three-pack of Modelo beer from the 600 block of First Street, 12:26 May 1. One of the suspects actively resisted arrest and was found to be in possession of metal knuckles and the stolen beer.

Vandalism

A vandal or vandal broke a concrete fence on Babbs Creek Drive near Poppyfield Court, 2:14 p.m. May 2.

A vandal or vandals broke the window of a white 2000 Chevrolet on Old Gilroy Street, 8:30 a.m. May 3.

A vandal or vandals damaged a two city vehicles on Rosanna and West Seventh streets, between 7:15 and 11:40 a.m. May 4.

A vandal or vandals damaged a Toyota on Mt. Vernon Way, 5 a.m. May 3.

A vandal or vandals marked a bumper of a gray Acura on Eden Street, between 6 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. May 26.

A vandal or vandals damaged two city-owned 2000 white GMC Jimmy vehicles parked in a city lot at Seventh and Hanna streets, 2:30 p.m. May 1.

Child abuse

A case of child abuse was reported on Ronan Avenue, 8:48 p.m. May 2.

Found property

A real estate agent turned in two revolvers while removing property from evicted residents on Cairn Way, 7:49 a.m. April 3.

An unidentified person found a woman’s wallet with $189.91 on Welburn and Wren avenues, 3:17 p.m. May 4.

An unidentified person found a 10-speed bike on Juniper Driver, 5:20 a.m. April 30.

Recovered vehicle

Police recovered a blue 1994 Honda Accord after it was red-tagged by parking enforcement on Church Street and Loupe Court, 9:36 a.m. May 3.

Sex registrant

A person was found to be in violation of his requirements to register on Leavesley Road, between 8 a.m. April 21 and 4:30 p.m. May 3.

Petty theft

A thief or thieves entered an unlocked white 1999 Chevrolet Suburban on La Sierra Way and took an iPod valued at $170, a Bluetooth headset valued at $50 and a charger valued at $14, between 7:30 p.m. May 2 and 9:30 a.m. May 3.

A 15-year-old is suspected of taking $100 from his or her father’s wallet on Eigleberry Street, between 12:01 and 8 a.m. May 4.

A trailer license plate was lost or stolen on Hastings Place, 4:26 p.m. May 4.

Arson registrant

A person convicted of arson filed for registration on Hanna Street, 8:44 a.m. May 3.

Animal

A sick cat was reported on Walnut Lane, 3:39 p.m. May 3.

An injured dog was reported on Chestnut and Lewis streets, 5:40 p.m. May 3.

Grand theft

A thief walked into Wilson Leather, 8155 Arroyo Circle, and took about eight leather Guess jackets valued at $1,600 before exiting the store in a gray Chrysler minivan, 6:55 p.m. May 3.

A juvenile borrowed a BMX bike to use the restroom at Las Animas Veterans Park, 350 Mantelli Drive, and never returned it, 6 p.m. May 3. The victim found out the name of the thief located on Farrell Avenue, who admitted selling the bike to a friend. The bike was recovered, and both the juvenile who sold and bought the bike were cited and released to their parents.

A thief or thieves stole a black BMX Fit bike valued at $1,700 from Taco Bell, 380 E. 10th St., 1:15 a.m. April 17.

Intoxicated at school

A juvenile was found to be intoxicated at Gilroy High School, 750 W. 10th St., 10:27 a.m. May 4.

A juvenile drank alcohol at Gilroy High School, 750 W. 10th St., and was unable to care for himself, 11:50 a.m. May 5. He was cited and released.

Fraudulent use of checks

A woman was assaulted at the Gilroy Premium Outlets and her purse was stolen, 12:26 p.m. April 21. A thief cashed two of the woman’s checks at a Chase bank.

Missing juvenile

A missing person was reported missing from Rogers Lane, 12:30 a.m. May 3.

A juvenile walked away from the children’s home on IOOF Avenue, 7:26 p.m. May 4.

A missing person was reported missing from Chestnut Street, 12 p.m. April 27.

A juvenile ran away from home on Carmel Street, 8:20 p.m. April 30.

A juvenile was reported missing on Watsonville Road, 7:06 a.m. May 1.

Assault

A person punched a girl numerous times at Gilroy High School, 750 W. 10th St., and was cited and released, 2:15 p.m. May 4.

A person confronted a man in a restroom on Monterey Street and hit him twice in the head with either a fist or beer bottle, 10:52 p.m. April 30. The victim refused medical treatment.

Victims were approached by suspects on Monterey Street and assaulted after they were asked if they “banged,” 7:20 p.m. May 1.

Residential burglary

A burglar or burglars entered a residence on Broadway Street and took a stereo valued at $600, a drill valued at $200, a compound bow valued at $200, a Huffy bike valued at $50 and a barbecue grill valued at $400, 7:14 p.m. May 2.

A burglar or burglars entered a mobile home on Garlic Farm Way and took an Acer laptop worth $2,000 and a Sony PSP handheld game system valued at $180.

Underage liquor possession

A juvenile was stopped for possession of an open alcoholic container inside his backpack on Church Street, 8:20 p.m. May 5.

A student was cited and released after bringing alcohol to South Valley Middle School, 385 IOOF Ave., 1 p.m. April 30.

Warrant arrest

A juvenile was arrested on a warrant at Saint Louise Regional Hospital, 9300 No Name Uno, 11:29 p.m. May 5.

Stolen vehicle

A female was cited after she took her father’s vehicle without permission on Rogers Lane, 1:36 a.m. May 1. She was stopped by a San Benito County Sheriff’s deputy. Her father wanted her arrested. She was taken into custody and the vehicle was returned to the father.

An unidentified person was arrested for stealing a brown 2002 Ford while it was warming up on Parish Way, 5 a.m. April 30.

A thief or thieves stole a brown 1987 Toyota Camry from Fifth Street, 11:09 p.m. May 1.

A thief or thieves stole a gray 1991 Honda Civic from Rogers Lane, 2:02 a.m. May 2.

Parole violation

A man with a gun fired shots on Forest and Old Gilroy streets, 3:55 p.m. April 30.

Public intoxication

Two people were arrested after they were found on Carmel and First streets too intoxicated to care for their own safety, 6:07 p.m. April 30.

DUI

Thomas Martinez, 38, was arrested for DUI after driving on the wrong side of the road near First and Monterey streets, 11:02 p.m. May 1. Traffic was stopped completely in the area.
