Police are looking for a man who robbed a Morgan Hill liquor store clerk at knife-point this weekend.
The suspect, whose image was caught on a surveillance video inside the store on Condit Road, is described as a Hispanic male, 18- to 21-years-old, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. Troy Hoefling.
Police responded to Paul’s Liquor, 17020 Condit Rd., about 1:15 p.m. Saturday in response to the armed robbery that had just occurred, Hoefling said.
The store clerk told police that the suspect entered the store, selected a beverage and approached the counter as if he was going to pay for the item, Hoefling said.
When the clerk opened the cash register, the suspect pulled out a knife and pointed it at the clerk, police said. Fearing for his safety, the clerk stepped back and the suspect jumped on the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the open register.
The suspected robber fled out of the store and was last seen going east, Hoefling said. He might be associated with a red Suburban or similar make of vehicle.
