The Junior Pee Wee Gilroy Browns put another game in the win column with a 28-16 victory against the Andrew Hill Raiders on Sunday.

The offense spread the ball around with touchdowns from four different players. Brandon Bumanlag started it all off with a tough run to the outside in the first quarter. Then after a fumble by the Raiders, Dylan Holler broke free for a run up the middle.

In the second half, Jonathon Ortega took a reverse thru an opening created by the offensive line for a long touchdown run – his first of the season. Later in the fourth quarter, after the Raiders were trying to mount a comeback, Christian Rodriguez punched one in from the 1 -yard line to seal the game.

The defense was anchored by Bumanlag, Keoni Calimpong-Dominguez, Joseph Cupp, Noah Laine, Keanu Castro, Jacob Vaca, Slader Basso, Arthur Gomez, Gaven Doyle and Anthony Lealao. They were able to corral the Raiders offense for most of the day with many drives ending in four plays.

— Gilroy Browns Junior Midgets kept their undefeated season in tact with scores from Henry Gallegos, Anthony Corral, Christopher Hernandez, Christopher McCain and two from Kevin Onyejekwe in a 40-11 win. There were plenty of big plays in this game with some great catches by Charles Good, Anthony Lopez and Martin Camarillo.

— The Tiny Mites continued to turn heads with a dominating performance against the Andrew Hill Raiders. Braden Clark led the way with two rushing touchdowns helped along with tremendous blocking. Elijah Sepulveda added two more touchdowns, while Jalen Hernandez and Charlie Good also found the end zone. Izaiah Garcia electrified the crowd with a long touchdown run of his own.

The Browns defense again displayed their hard hitting, swarming style of play with another week of keeping the opposition out of the end zone.

— The Mitey Mites lost 26-0 and will be playing in Monterey next Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

— The Pee Wee lost 8-0 and will be playing in Monterey next Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

— Gilroy Browns Cheerleaders competed at the 2011 Peninsula Pop Warner Cheerleaders Invitational on Saturday.

The Tiny Mite and Mitey Mite squads wowed the spectators with their performances as well as their advanced skill level for their age groups.

Junior Pee Wee’s performed a strong routine against tough local competitors giving them the confidence to bring home a title at the upcoming Championship Competition.

Pee Wee cheer took second place with their performance against five competitors in their category. Midget cheer took third place out of five competitors in their category.

All squads will be competing on Sunday, October 23rd at the Peninsula Pop Warner Cheer Championship Competition at Santa Clara University, where hopefully Championship titles will be won once again for the Gilroy Browns.
