CHS field hockey suffers first league loss, GHS girls golf
postponed and CHS volleyball goes down in five sets.
Alan Lindseth, Michael Shields and Kooper Knutson each scored four times as the Gilroy High varsity boys water polo team defeated crosstown foe Christopher High 18-6 on Monday at GHS.
Alex Papalais and Garrett Pipkin added three goals for the Mustangs while goalie Jordan Besson made 10 saves in cage.
Kaitlin Ramirez led the Cougars in the pool with a team-high three goals. Brennan Wilson tallied twice and James Benson contributed one goal.
CHS FIELD HOCKEY
The CHS varsity field hockey team took on Mission Trail Athletic League-power North Salinas and fell to the Vikings 6-0 on Monday in Salinas.
The Cougars are now 1-1-2 in the MTAL.
GHS GOLF
The Gilroy High match with Alvarez scheduled for today has been postponed due to the heat sweeping across the area. No make-up date has been announced.
CHS VOLLEYBALL
Another match escaped the grasp of the Christopher High girls varsity volleyball team Monday night in Watsonville.
The Cougars fell victim to their third five-set loss of the season, this time 25-19, 22-25, 25-13, 16-25, 13-15 to Monterey Bay League opponent North Monterey County.
“We played a team that we should’ve beaten,” head coach Larry Nabzeska said. “We beat ourselevs. We didn’t play as well as we should have. We can play better and hopefully learn from this.”
Claudia Ferreira and Aly Olvera tied for the team-high with nine kills and Merrett Brown had six kills.
