DEAR EDITOR:
I’ve been a resident in the Gilroy Unified School District for 11 years and this is the first time the school district has asked for my support on a bond issue. My husband and I do not have children, but we have always been willing to support our schools (and pay for them), because we know that better schools and facilities mean a better education for all kids.
Educated children become educated adults, who become a more highly skilled (and better paid) work force, which leads to a a stronger community with more resources, but less crime, poverty and other problems. Better educated children mean a safer community for all of us.
Also, being a real estate agent, I know first-hand that good schools create higher property values. I urge you to support Measure I Tuesday.
