AG Construction combined three hits with three errors in the
fifth inning to score five runs and hold on for the 5-4
victory.
AG Construction locked up the top seed in the Men’s Fall DD Softball League playoffs Tuesday, but not without a scare from a winless first-year club.

Sons of Pitches, a newly-formed team in the Gilroy Recreation Department program, brought a 0-6 mark into the first game of the Las Animas Park tripleheader. The Pitches struck for two runs in the first, two more in the fourth to carry a 4-0 lead into the fifth against the first-place Builders.

AG Construction combined three hits with three errors in the fifth inning to score five runs and hold on for the 5-4 victory. The win left AG Construction at 6-1 with one game left in the regular season.

Those Guys continued in second place at 5-2 with a 13-9 decision over Pinocchio’s Pizza.

The first nine batters in the top of the first inning scored to give Pinocchio’s Pizza a 9-0 edge. Chris Velasco and Benny Cortez each delivered two hits in the first frame.

While the Pizza offense went without a run for the final six innings, Those Guys scored seven runs in the fourth to take a 12-9 lead. Jaredd Reeve paced Those Guys with three hits. Jeff Smith went 3-for-3 for Pinocchio’s Pizza.

Claddagh Brew Crew slipped into third place at 4-3 with an 18-17 nod over Family First.

Danny Russo, 4-for-4 for the game, singled and scored the tie-breaking run in the top of the final inning. Mike Keith collected a double and two singles for Claddagh. Ed Cordia hit a home run, triple and two singles, Rigo Benevidez a triple, double and two singles for Family First (3-4).

Feather Haven moved to 6-1 atop the Men’s Fall D standings Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park with an 11-7 victory over Picassos Tattoo.

Rob Rocha homered and singled to key the Feather Haven offense. Isaac Sepulveda collected a triple, double and single for Picasso’s Tattoo.

The Borrachos reached 5-2 with a 25-1 nod over Los Chilotes. Mitchell Reese stroked two home runs, a triple and double. Mark Salazar scored the Los Chilotes run.

VFW Bingo is third at 4-3 after a 14-9 decision over Heinzen Manufacturing. Steve Lemberger and Juan Zavala each went 4-for-4 for the winners. Bruce Hanna homered in a 4-for-4 effort for Heinzen.

Celia Capulin went 6-for-6 Wednesday as Don’t Trip topped Garlic Heat 26-7 in Women’s Fall play Wednesday at Las Animas Park.

Liz Adams and Corey Casillas each provided five hits for 6-1 Don’t Trip. Christina Bennett and Tina Flores each scored two Garlic Heat runs.

Still Ms. BeHaving is 5-2 in second place after topping Kalai Kraze 20-6. Anita Garza and Suzanna Fox each provided five hits for the winners. Norma Wendt hit two singles in a six-run second frame for Kalai Kraze.
